The Journey

September is one of the best months for RV'ing, so we took a week and headed out on a road trip.
We did find out that the first week of September was also wet, but that is why we have an RV

Our trip took us to the West Kootenays in the north west portion of that area. Highway 6 from Vernon to Nakusp, BC, then up to Revelstoke and back on Highway 1 to Sicamous. Then down 97A back to Vernon and home to Kelowna

So fire up the motor home, hookup the trailer or fifth wheel and come explore this road trip.

Our first stop on this road trip, was the city of Vernon, BC. As it was the long weekend in September we thought we should stay put and explore this area for a bit.
Vernon is in the North Okanagan and sits between Okanagan Lake and Kalamalka lake.
.We spent an afternoon trying our luck at Lake City Casino and we have to thank them for providing the funds to pay for the whole trip.

Sometimes lucky!!
This was our home for the long weekend.
On Monday of the Labour Day weekend we head out along Hwy 6 toward the ferry. Our stop this day will be just south of Nakusp.
Across the Arrow Lake on a cable ferry. Tight fit but we all made it across in short order
Home for Monday night.
Even though our provincial parks are far behind our American neighbors in services, this park has added new sites that have power. So we are a step up from the no services, but still a ways to go for full hookup like they have in the State Parks down south.
We parked and set up and in the evening had a campfire under the awning
Nakusp is located on the shores of Arrow Lake and is known for the famous Nakusp Hot Springs just a short drive from the city.
Tuesday we head out in the rain for Revelstoke.
Across the Arrow Lake one more time and into the city of Revelstoke..
Home while in Revelstoke is the Lamplighter Campground
Revelstoke is a railway hub and home to the Railway Museum. A must see when you are in the area.

Just north of Revelstoke is the BC Hydro dam and they conduct tours of the dam
Wednesday we decide to head back into the Okanagan to try and find some sun after spending a few days in the rain
Along Highway 1 on the way west again there is The Enchanted Forest which is a great stop in you are travelling with the kids or grand kids. Wait...we had fun there, but then we are just kids at heart.

Also along the way is where they drove the last spike to complete the cross Canada railway. Just a little bit of history.
Back into the Okanagan and we did find the sunshine
When we got back to Vernon we took in the historic O'Keefe Ranch and took part in a fun dinner theatre which was a murder mystry.
Food was just awesome and the play a lot of fun.
As Ron guessed the who done it we are now the owners of a book on ranching in the early Okanagan.
Just a great way to end the trip and when you are in the area don't miss O'Keefe Ranch
