 HAPPY FATHER'S DAY


Karen & Ron wish all fathers a very Happy Father's Day!!

June and we are heading into summer. The season for RV'ing in Canada.

May all the fathers out there have the best day ever

For the month of June we are going to add some new features to the newsletter. 

On our website you can still visit the biggest and the best for 2014, but we have been taking some trips and will share them with you.

The first one was to check out a new RV park that we have added to our favorites list and that was Park Royal RV Resort in Penticton. We had a great stay over the long weekend in May and the owners do a great job of keeping this park in the 5 star category. We did the tourist visits in Penticton and checked out some wineries in the Naramata bench and went out for a great dinner. Check out Park Royal on our favorites page.....BC

The second one was to an old favorite of ours, Swan Lake Recreational Resort, in Vernon,BC. This park is a strata and you can buy your lot or as an owner you can put it in the rental pool and that is how we stay there. Again this is a 5 star park with a pool, hot tub and all the amenities of a 5 star park. This resort is close to the historic O'Keefe Ranch and just a short trip to Vernon with great food, a casino and lots of interesting things to do. Watch our favorite pages for this one to come.

 RECIPE OF THE MONTH

 Prime Rib And Stuffed Potatoes

 

                           PRIME RIB AND STUFFED POTATOES

Pre heat oven to 450

Spread Salt and Pepper all over roast

Roast Prime Rib on a bed of celery, onions, & Carrots

Start at 450 for ½ hour then turn down to 325 and slow roast

Use temp. gage to get the right doneness approx. 2 hours

 

                                 STUFFED POTATO

 Prick 4 potatoes and place on cookie sheet

Bake in oven for 1 hr or until cooked through

Cut top off of potato after it has cooled

Place the insides on the potato in a bowl 

Add bacon (fried earlier) cheese, green onion 

Sour cream (optional)

Fill potato back up and add little cheese on top 

Set aside

When roast is ready to come out of oven. Tent with foil

Let stand 15 to 20 min.

Place potatoes in the oven to heat and melt cheese.

TIP OF THE MONTH 

ELECTRIC WATER HEATER

ELECTRIC WATER HEATER

Many of our RVs are equipped with gas/electric RV water heaters. This refers to the fact that the unit has both a gas heating side and an electric element. As we forge toward spring in many parts of the country, it is important to remember to turn the circuit breaker for the water heater OFF if you have an electric water heater. A dry electric element will burn out within seconds of being turned on. By turning off the breaker, you are assured that it is off and that it will not be damaged while you get the coach ready for the season!

Disinfect Fresh Water System

Disinfect your RV's water system before using for the season

Instructions for disinfection of potable water systems on recreation vehicles. This procedure is approved by the U.S. Public Health Service.

To ensure complete disinfection of the potable water system, it is recommended that the following procedures be followed on a new system, one that has not been used for a period of time or one that may have become contaminated. This procedure is also recommended before long periods of storage such as during the winter.

1. Prepare a chlorine solution using 1 U.S. gal. (4 L) of water and 1/4 cup (60 mL) of household bleach (sodium hypochlorite solution). With the tank empty, pour the chlorine solution into the tank. Use 1 U.S. gal. (4 L) solution for each 15 U.S. gal. (60 L) of tank capacity. This procedure will result in a residual chlorine concentration of 50 parts per million (ppm) in the water system. If a 100-ppm  concentration is required, as discussed in item 3, use 1/2 cup (120 mL) of household bleach with 1 U.S. gal. (4 L) of water to prepare the chlorine solution. One U.S. gal. (4 L) of the solution should be used for each 15 U.S. gal. (60 L) of tank capacity.

2. Complete filling the tank with potable water. Open each faucet and run the water until a distinct odor of chlorine can be detected in the water discharged. Do not forget the hot water taps.

3. Allow the system to stand for at least 4 hours when disinfecting with 50-ppm residual chlorine. If a shorter time period is desired, then a 100-ppm chlorine concentration should be permitted to stand in the system for at least 1 hr.

4. Drain and flush with potable water.
